The mission of the Burke Historical Society is to preserve and promote the varied history of Burke, Virginia and to promote an appreciation of Burke’s important role in history. The Society is composed of people with an interest in the area’s people, places and personalities. Our members are young and old, long-term residents and newcomers, professional and amateur historians, and folks who just like to learn about history.
The Burke Historical Society sponsors:
⋅ Monthly general meetings with educational programs
⋅ Bi-monthly seminars on how to do historical research
⋅ Periodic tours of sights and museums of interest in Burke and the surrounding area
⋅ Speakers for schools, libraries, and community organizations
⋅ Exhibits on local history at the annual Burke Centre Festival
The Burke Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) Virginia nonstock corporation located in the County of Fairfax, Virginia. The Society was founded in 1978 and incorporated in 2010.
