DESCRIPTION:Sunrise at Silas Burke House will hold an open house for the public.  Concurrently with this event\, members of the Burke Historical Society will offer group tours of the historic Silas Burke House. \nSmall group tours will begin at 11:00.  The last tour group will be at 1:30.  Tours will last around 20 minutes. \nNo registration is required.  There is a limited number of unmarked visitor spaces at Sunrise\, but you may need to park on Shiplett Boulevard; please allow time for the walk. \nBHS tour guides will meet you on the side of the house facing Sunrise.  After the tour\, you’re welcome to stick around and enjoy the grounds.

DESCRIPTION:From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday\, April 2nd\,The Burke Historical Society will present a small exhibit at the Sydenstricker Schoolhouse.  See the historic schoolhouse and enjoy some of our posters on local history\, including a new interpretive shadow box featuring artifacts from the Burke area.  Admission is free\, but donations are appreciated to benefit the schoolhouse and its historical outreach programs. \nThe schoolhouse is located at 8511 Hooes Road\, Springfield\, VA 22153\, next to the old Sydenstricker Methodist Chapel\, and across the street from Sydenstricker Methodist Church. There’s a small parking lot at the schoolhouse and additional parking in the church lot across the street.
