Burke Historical Society Mini-Museum – The Burke Historical Society Mini-Museum was established about 1993 and located in the “remains” of the first Burke RR station on the Orange and Alexandria RR.

Fairfax County African American Inventory – The AAHI endeavors to capture, communicate, and preserve the African American experience throughout Fairfax County’s history.

Fairfax County Cemetery Preservation Association – The organization’s mission is to identify, document, preserve, protect, maintain and advocate for cemeteries in our county. In addition, the association educates the community about the historical importance of cemeteries and how to survey and preserve cemeteries.

Fairfax County Resident Curator Program – The Resident Curator Program goal is to preserve historic properties by offering long-term leases to qualified tenants (private citizens, a non-profit entity, or a for-profit entity) who agree to rehabilitate and maintain these historic resources.

Oak Hill – Oak Hill is a privately owned historic home originally owned by members of the Fitzhugh family.  Oak Hill periodically is open to the public.

City of Fairfax Historic Resources– Numerous historic sites are located in Fairfax City and are open to the public.

Sydenstricker Schoolhouse – Located in Springfield, the Sydenstricker Schoolhouse represents one of the last and best preserved one room schoolhouses in Fairfax County.

Lake Accotink History – In 2016, Fairfax County historian Mary Lipsey, on behalf of Friends of Lake Accotink Park (FLAP), initiated a project to document historical aspects of Lake Accotink Park in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Braddock Heritage – History and memory are intertwined. A Look Back at Braddock District is a local history, the story of a rural region in the heart of Fairfax County, Virginia, transformed over time into a sprawling suburb of Washington, DC.

Fairfax Circuit Court Historic Records Center – The mission of the Fairfax Circuit Court Historic Records Center is to preserve and make available to the public the historic records of the Fairfax Circuit Court.

Fairfax County Park Authority Historic Site Tours – From the rustic life at Dranesville Tavern to the life of the privileged class at Stone Mansion, the historic properties under the stewardship of the Fairfax County Park Authority, Resource Management Division offer a unique representation of early life in Fairfax County.

Fairfax County Inventory of Historic Sites – The Inventory itself is, quite simply, a catalog of historically significant sites within Fairfax County. Currently, there are approximately three hundred and fifty (350) sites on the Inventory.

Fairfax County Park Authority Museum Collections – In support of its mission to protect and maintain the county’s heritage, the Fairfax County Park Authority collects and preserves the material culture that represents our heritage from prehistory to present day.

Virginia Room – The Fairfax County Public Library’s Virginia Room maintains a collection rich in regional history and genealogy, as well as local and state government information and legal resources.

Laurel Grove School Museum – The Laurel Grove School Association (LGSA) is a community based, certified 501(c) (3) private non-profit organization, located in Springfield, Virginia. The association was incorporated in 1999 to restore the last remaining one-room schoolhouse of the old segregated school system in Fairfax County, the Laurel Grove Colored School.

Fairfax County History Commission – The Fairfax County History Commission was established by the County of Fairfax in 1969. We help identify, document, record, and preserve our county’s historic past here in Northern Virginia. Our commission’s 20 members are appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Northern Virginia History Notes – Articles on the history of northern Virginia, including Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties.

Friends of Fairfax County Archaeology and Cultural Resources – FOFA was established in 2010 to support the understanding and appreciation of Fairfax County’s archaeology, artifacts and museum objects, and historic buildings.

Fairfax Station Railroad Museum – The all-volunteer Friends of the Fairfax Station was established in 1973 to maintain and operate the reconstructed Fairfax Station Railroad Depot as a museum.

The Story of Ravensworth – It’s a story of colonial settlement, early government, tobacco plantations, slavery, civil war, economic expansion, the rise and decline of family farms, and suburban development – next door to the nation’s capital – involving people, places and events both famous and obscure.

Reston Historic Trust & Museum – The Reston Historic Trust (RHT) is an established community organization that preserves the past, informs the present, and influences the future of Reston through its educational programs.

Historic Fairfax City – Historic Fairfax City Inc. (HFCI) is dedicated to promoting the appreciation and preservation of the history and artifacts of the City of Fairfax as an experience central to the lives of the community.

Historic Vienna – Since April 5, 1976, Historic Vienna, Inc. (HVI) has served as a nonprofit corporation dedicated to preserving and promoting Vienna’s heritage through the identification, preservation, and interpretation of historically significant places, events, and persons.

Arlington Historical Society – The Arlington Historical Society, Inc., founded in 1956, is a nonprofit educational organization incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The mission of the Arlington Historical Society is to conduct research and to preserve and disseminate knowledge relating to the history, archaeology, material culture, and geographical and socio-economic development of Arlington County, Virginia.

Franconia Museum, Inc. – The Franconia Museum preserves the past, present, and future of the Franconia area in pictures, artifacts, and stories.

Herndon Historical Society – The Herndon Historical Society was founded in 1971. Its purpose, as stated in the Society’s constitution, is “…to bring together those people interested in history, and especially in the history of the Herndon, Virginia, area.”

The Historical Society of Fairfax County, Virginia – The chief mission of the Historical Society of Fairfax County is the promotion and preservation of the history of the Fairfax County. The society’s mission is primarily fulfilled through the publication of a biennial Yearbook that contains historical and scholarly articles relative to Fairfax County.

The Gum Springs Museum – It is the aim of the Museum to display a dynamic exhibit of the history of the Gum Springs Community.  Gum Springs was founded by the patriarchical Freedman, West Ford, whose bones rest near George Washington’s at Mount Vernon.

Alexandria Historical Society – The Alexandria Historical Society is dedicated to researching, recording, discussing, and publishing the history of Alexandria, Virginia.

Fairfax Genealogical Society – The Fairfax Genealogical Society (FxGS) was established in 1974 as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to promote fellowship and cooperation among persons who are conducting genealogical research and aid those doing research in our area.
